My husband and I began our journey in October 2017. Gestational surrogacy is certainly not an easy road and we are so grateful for finding Genesis. I honestly don’t know how we would’ve done this without them. They are an amazing group who take pride in their work and have nothing but the sincerest intentions for both intended parents and surrogate mothers. They are there from day 1 until the day that baby comes home. We came to gestational surrogacy due to an autoimmune disorder that I have struggled with for over a decade. After many conversations with my doctors, it was clear that carrying my own biological baby to term would not have been a safe for either of us. I remember walking away from our first meeting with Erica, our case manager and now dear friend, in complete awe of all the surrogate mothers and amazed how selfless they are. The journey was certainly not easy – it was full of ups and downs and I’ve cried countless times, not knowing if our baby would ever arrive. The matching process was an emotional rollercoaster but despite this, Erica and La Vonna always kept me positive, encouraged me not to lose sight, and continued searching tirelessly for a match. Then it happened! We found our dear surromom, Lucy, a second-time surrogate, and we instantly connected. Everything moved so quickly and before we knew it, transfer day was upon us. Two weeks later we were pregnant with our baby girl! Lucy and I were always (and still am!) in contact throughout the journey and Genesis made sure everything went as smoothly as possible. They did their absolute best to ensure that we were all taken care of, both emotionally and physically. I was a nervous wreck throughout the pregnancy, but every time I felt anxious, Erica encouraged me to trust the process and eased my fears. She was always there to answer my calls, emails, and texts. When the big day came, our daughter made quite an entrance into this world. We ended up needing a surprise C-section, and needless to say, I was a wreck. Lucy and her family handled everything with such grace and courage and Jenn, our Genesis doula, did an incredible job of keeping us from falling apart. I am so happy to say that we now have a beautiful, healthy, baby girl who came to us surrounded by so much love and with the support of such an incredible team. We feel so blessed to have finally been granted this chance to become parents, and Genesis will always be a part of our daughter’s story.
